Clifford does nothing for us. 23 year old guy who right now is a third liner on our team at best. Makes a bigger hole at center than we already have... if Muzzin or even Toffoli was part of the return I would be much happier. Don't do it MacT |

I think Gagner to LA period is dumb deal for both sides, doesn't really matter the return. - mochoson
Yeah, I don't see how Gagner fits in LA myself, what would the lines look like if got dealt for Clifford or King(plus a pick if needed)? |

Eberle
Gagner
Richards
Toffoli or Clifford + Pick
This is the only realistic deal I would do If I was LA |

Richards has a no trade clause, no way he accepts to go to the Oilers. |

Agreed, King's would only do it because of the value of getting a guy like Gags at half price for Kyle (frank)ing Clifford.
The Oilers would only do it from a misguided search for grit and truculence as if MacT is Brian Burke's half-baked clone. Even Burke rangled in a top pairing dman. |

It just doesn't make sense to me. If they really wanted Clifford we could have just offer sheeted him in the summer now we have to retain salary just to get him?
After that the oilers don't have a center capable of filling gagners role as 2C I just don't get it.
If this is all we can get for gagner I'd rather wait it out and see in the summer or whatever |

I know he's still young and developping, but it seems to be if
A) he's playing on the 4th line for a cup competitor
B) The Kings are willing to trade him
Then he'll never even be a good 3rd liner on a cup competitive team. |

I thought that also, but according to CapGeek he doesn't. |

Clifford is actually pretty good, not with numbers, but he drives to the net, forechecks well, throws the body and he can shoot a little. I think he is an aspect you guys are missing up front and like most players we trade away because they appear to underachieve on our squad, once they get traded the play a lot better (Moulson, Purcel, Boyle, Sydor,) So I wouldn't say he sucks for you guys.
Gags is not going to help us at all though, so we are probably coming hot and heavy for him.
and note to all Oler fans: keep Toffoli's name out your mouth, it aint gonna happen unless HALL is in the deal !!!

Didn't mean to imply Clifford sucks. Agree that kind of game is needed on our squad. Hell even Hendricks has made a good impact for us already. But to trade our second line center (keeping in mind we have no one to replace him) for that seems questionable to me. MacT has been fairly good so far at not trading away NHL talent for "potential" |

I don't know but my guess is he comes from a long line of bird hunters...
and re: Cliffy, I wonder if he and Nolan have been instructed to shy away from dropping the gloves lately (to avoid fight-related injuries) because they would possibly be trade fodder... |
